Per-Recipient Watermark
A dynamic watermark applied to each document page that identifies the specific investor who accessed it.
A per-recipient watermark is a document security measure that stamps every page of a PDF with identifying information about the recipient who opened it. In PrimeVDR, the watermark reads 'Prepared for {email} · {date}' and is applied dynamically on first access using pdf-lib. Because the watermark is generated at the time of viewing (not at upload), it is unique to each investor — if a document leaks, the watermark identifies the source. This is a dual-layer system: a static confidential footer is applied at upload; the dynamic recipient mark is applied at first open.
Example
An investor downloaded a financial model from a PrimeVDR data room. The footer of every page read 'Prepared for partner@vcfirm.com · 2026-06-15', identifying them as the source if the document circulated.
